Optical and Laser Devices and Methods - PhD

About the course

The aim of the training of PhD students in the doctoral program "Optical and Laser Devices and Methods" in the Department of Precision Engineering and Measurement Instruments is:

  • increasing the qualification of the PhD students;
  • their training as highly qualified specialists for the industry;
  • their formation as highly qualified lecturers for higher education institutions;
  • increasing their competency, knowledge and skills.

Achieving these goals is possible by successfully solving the following tasks:

  • compliance with legal requirements during training;
  • the training and consult of the PhD students should be carried out by lecturers with a high level of professional and scientific qualification;
  • to continuously improve and modernize the equipment in order to intensify the research process;
  • application of information technologies for research, gathering and processing of data;
  • strong relationship, close interaction and responding to the growing interest of companies from the production and service sectors in scientific and applied developments related to the objects of the specialty.

The main directions in which training is developed are:

  • Оptics Фoundations;
  • methods and principles for designing optical elements and devices;
  • engineering experiment planning and automation;
  • development and research of optical elements, devices and systems in fine, micromechanical and nanotechnology;
  • development and research of laser devices and systems;
  • optoelectronics and fiber optics;
  • application of optical and laser devices in medicine, biotechnology, office equipment, and measurement equipment.

The topics of the PhD thesis in the doctoral program "Optical And Laser Devices And Methods" are determined by the modern achievements in the field of precision engineering, instrumentation and measurement equipment in a theoretical and practical aspect and are aligned with national priorities in the industry.

There are 10 specialized laboratories for training of PhD students in the Department of Precision Engineering and Measurement Instruments:

  • Interchangeability and technical measurements
  • Devices for measuring geometric quantities
  • Transducers and devices for automatic control
  • Fine and micromechanical equipment
  • Micromechanical and laser equipment
  • Devices for measuring physical and mechanical quantities
  • Elements and mechanisms in precision engineering
  • Super accurate measurements
  • Office equipment, reliability, and diagnostics
  • Optical and laser equipment

The master's degree programs Mechatronics, Metrology and Measuring Equipment, Medical Engineering are an additional prerequisite for studying in the doctoral program "Optical and Laser Devices and Methods".
