Metrology and Metrology Assurance - PhD

About the course

The aim of the training in the PhD program "Metrology and Metrological Assurance" in the Department of Precision Engineering and Measurement Instruments is:

  • increasing the qualification of the PhD students;
  • their training as highly qualified specialists for the industry;
  • their formation as highly qualified lecturers for higher education institutions;
  • increasing their competency, knowledge and skills.

Achieving these goals is possible by successfully solving the following tasks:

  • compliance with legal requirements during training;
  • the training and consult of the PhD students should be carried out by lecturers with a high level of professional and scientific qualification;
  • to continuously improve and modernize the equipment in order to intensify the research process;
  • application of information technologies for research, gathering and processing of data;
  • strong relationship, close interaction and responding to the growing interest of companies from the production and service sectors in scientific and applied developments related to the objects of the specialty.

The main directions in which training is developed are:

  • fundamentals of the uniformity of measurements;
  • fundamentals of measurement accuracy;
  • reproducibility of the units of physical quantities;
  • methods and principles for developing measuring instruments;
  • fundamentals of measurement methods, principles and algorithms;
  • methods and algorithms for metrological analysis and metrological synthesis;
  • methods and processing of measurement information;
  • planning of a measurement experiment;
  • methods and devices for metrological assurance;
  • methods and devices for metrological control;
  • organization of metrological assurance;
  • metrological reliability of measuring instruments;
  • automation of the measurement experiment;
  • automated systems for testing, inspecting and calibrating of measuring instruments;
  • quality control systems of metrological activity.

The topics of the PhD  "Metrology and Metrological Assurance" are determined by modern achievements in the field of measurements in a theoretical and practical aspect and are in line with the national priorities related to the development of methods and devices to ensure the uniformity of measurements.

There are 10 specialized laboratories for training of PhD students in the Department of Precision Engineering and Measurement Instruments:
