Metrology and Measurement Equipment - Master

About the course

The main aim of specialty "Metrology and Measurement Equipment" is to prepare highly qualified specialists, having a solid general technical training and in-depth knowledge of metrology and measurement instruments. The graduated students will be capable of carrying out production, technologies, operations, assembly, repair, organizational and management activities on metrological assurance, control, calibration of measurement instruments and their application in science and industry.

The metrology engineers in the field of "Metrology and Measurement Equipment" will be leaders in the country in the development and application of principles, methods and devices for metrological assurance, certification, inspection and evaluation of safety and quality of products and processes determined by international, European and national legislation and standardization.

The specialty meets the needs of various areas of the economy: mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, automation, ecology, medicine, biotechnology, energy, communications, transport and corresponds to the dynamics of their development.

During the development of the curriculum of the specialty, the feedback of leading companies in the industry regarding the training of personnel with the professional qualification "engineer", as well as the content of the training offered in similar specialties in our and foreign universities are taken into account.

Why choose this specialty?

The graduated metrology engineer with degree "master" has:

  • high complex fundamental training, acquired in accordance with the requirements for the training of a master's engineer;
  • level of general knowledge corresponding to the requirements for higher education;
  • knowledge of the theoretical foundations of the metrology, as well as knowledge of a wide range of mathematical and engineering methods for research and analysis of products, processes and systems using modern technical devices and software products;
  • wide range of knowledge in the field of management activity.

The metrology engineer with a qualification degree "master" solves complex management and operational tasks. This highly qualified activity requires an interdisciplinary academic education that covers knowledge in the following areas:

  • engineering sciences – design, research, implementation and service of measuring devices, metrological assurance and quality control;
  • business sciences - economics, marketing, project management, human resources, business communications, etc.
  • information sciences – information assurance, automation and computer science;
  • social and legal sciences – technical legislation of the EU and the Republic of Bulgaria, standardization and legal metrology.

What are the entry requirements?

The "Metrology and Measurement Equipment" specialty assure students with specialized training that meets the requirements of the Law on Higher Education. The admission of students is carried out according to the Admission Rules of TU-Sofia ( https://priem.tu-sofia.bg/ )

What do you study?

The preparation of the master's degree in the specialty " Metrology and Measurement Equipment" is built on the basis of the knowledge and skills obtained in the undergraduate  disciplines like: fundamental; general engineering; special engineering and humanitarians.
